BROCKLEBANK BACKS CALLS FOR PHARMACY FOR BALMULLO

Speaking after he attended a packed public meeting in Balmullo last night on the future of pharmaceutical services in that village and in nearby Leuchars, Mid Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP, Ted Brocklebank, said,
'There were well over 100 local residents present at this meeting, demonstrating the strong feelings of many about the future of both pharmaceutical and GP services in Balmullo and Leuchars.

'If, as we now know, a new pharmacy is to open in Leuchars in April, it should not be to the detriment of services to local people.

'This new application to open a pharmacy within the surgery at Balmullo is supported by the majority of residents who have made a compelling case for it. Not only will it create healthy competition, it will also provide valuable income for the GPs who rely on this revenue in order to provide full general practice services.

'I will therefore be writing today to George Brechin, Chief Executive of NHS Fife, putting forward my support for the Balmullo application. The priority should always be giving local people access to high value medical services.'
