BROCKLEBANK : ‘KOHLER’S THE RIGHT MAN TO RE-ESTABLISH HAMILTON HALL’

Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife and Shadow Culture Spokesman, Ted Brocklebank, has welcomed the news that Herb Kohler has purchased Hamilton Hall in St Andrews.

Commenting, Mr Brocklebank said;

“I am glad that Herb Kohler has been successful in purchasing Hamilton Hall. The former university residence is an iconic building throughout the world of golf and it has been very disappointing to see it lying abandoned and falling into a state of disrepair over the past four years. I have no doubt that the Kohler Company will now restore Hamilton Hall to its former glory.

“I am particularly encouraged that Mr Kohler plans to conduct a consultation with the local community over the future use of the building. Hamilton Hall is an important part of St Andrews’ heritage and it is only right that locals are given the opportunity to help shape its future.

“This year we have seen the Old Course Hotel, another Kohler-owned property, receive an array of awards for its excellence. Whatever decision is taken over the future use of Hamilton Hall, I am certain that it is now in the hands of an owner who can re-establish this illustrious building and who has the best interests of St Andrews at heart.”
