Date: 12 November 2009 BROCKLEBANK DISCOVERS NATIONAL TRUST WILL TAKE DECISION ON REOPENING HILL OF TARVIT IN DECEMBER Following recent enquiries to the National Trust for Scotland, Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, Ted Brocklebank, has discovered that a decision is likely to be taken in mid December over the reopening of Hill of Tarvit Mansion House to the public.
Commenting, Mr Brocklebank said;
“I have recently been informed by the Chief Executive of the National Trust for Scotland, Kate Mavor, that a decision is likely to be made in mid December over the reopening of Hill of Tarvit Mansion House to the public. This is a welcome development and it now appears that the National Trust has a greater degree of financial stability than was seen earlier in the year.
“In a recent letter to the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee the Trust confirmed that it was trading ahead of budget this year which has enabled it to look at reopening properties closed earlier in the year.
“I remain optimistic that the Trust will decide to reopen Hill of Tarvit in December. It is a magnificent Edwardian mansion with significant architectural value and strong connections to the Lorimer family. Such an important building, with its excellent collection of fine antiques, should be accessible to the public to allow visitors to view North East Fife’s wonderful built heritage first hand.”
