BROCKLEBANK SECURES PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE FOR A NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL IN NORTH EAST FIFE

Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, Ted Brocklebank, has secured a members’ business debate in the Scottish Parliament on the subject of a new secondary school for North East Fife. The debate will take place on Thursday 29th October.

Commenting after securing the debate, Mr Brocklebank said;

“I am very pleased to have been able to secure this debate in the Scottish Parliament on a vitally important issue for North East Fife. There have been repeated calls and campaigns over the past fifty years for a new secondary school at the Tay Bridgehead with support continuing to grow. A poll on the Fife Free Press website shows that 67% of respondents are in favour of a new school at the Tay Bridgehead.

“Currently there are around 850 pupils who are having their education compromised by being bussed from the Tay Bridgehead and Leuchars area to Madras College. Leaked figures have also shown that the new Madras College will not have the capacity to accommodate future pupil roll numbers which further underlines the need for a new school at the Tay Bridgehead.

“I hope Fife Council’s SNP/LibDem administration will finally listen to the calls for a new school in North East Fife and stop playing politics with our children’s education.”
