Date: 02 October 2009 BROCKLEBANK : ‘SNP MUST STOP BREAKING PROMISES’ Scottish Conservatives have uncovered that over 20,000 people in Scotland are currently waiting for an appointment with a physiotherapist.
Fife has the third highest waiting list of Scotland’s Health Boards with 2149 people currently waiting for physiotherapy.
Commenting, Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, Ted Brocklebank, said;
“Once again the SNP has broken one of their promises to the Scottish public. In 2007 they committed to reducing waiting times for physiotherapy yet the SNP Government has now admitted that they do not keep any record of patient waiting times, and therefore have no idea if there is a reduction or not.
“Figures obtained directly from Fife Health Board by the Scottish Conservatives have shown that there are currently 2149 people waiting to see a physiotherapist in Fife. This is completely unacceptable as the lack of access to physiotherapy will undoubtedly cause many people’s conditions to deteriorate.
“The SNP Government must start being proactive in improving the provision of physiotherapy in Fife, and throughout Scotland. They should not be content to break yet another promise to the Scottish public by putting their head in the sand.”
