Date: 22 February 2010 BROCKLEBANK SLAMS PHARMACY DECISION Commenting on NHS Fife’s Pharmacy Practices Committee decision to reject an application for a pharmacy in Balmullo surgery, Mid Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP, Ted Brocklebank said,
'This decision flies in the face of democracy as well as healthy competition.
'This application to open a pharmacy within the surgery at Balmullo is supported by the majority of residents who have made a compelling case for it. Not only will it create healthy competition, it will also provide valuable income for the GPs who rely on this revenue in order to provide full general practice services.
'The priority should always be to giving local people access to high value medical services.
'Nicola Sturgeon, the Health Secretary, has taken a particular interest in this matter following questions I put to her in the Scottish Parliament and I will be seeking an urgent meeting with her.
'I hope the people of Balmullo and Leuchars will continue to fight this wrong decision and I will continue to give them my full support.' |
